What’s in My Sewing Bag?

B = Bag

My sewing machine was an awesome gift for my birthday. So was my sewing bag and nearly all of its contents. Knowing my taste well, my mom picked out this adorable bag:

Today I thought it’d be fun to look at what’s in my sewing bag — some very essential and handy sewing supplies.

 1: Pincushion. 2: Extra pins. 3: Sewing needles. 4: Double-sided adhesive tape in different sizes. 5: Sewing tape measure. 6: Sewing gauge (this was very helpful for hemming!). 7: Pouch of sewing machine pieces, which are laid out in this post on unboxing my Brother CS-6000i. 8: Small sewing scissors great for cutting thread. 9: Regular-size sewing scissors for cutting fabric.

Do you have a sewing bag for supplies? Which items are your must-haves?

    Hey there, coming to you courtesy of the A to Z challenge, and I love your sewing bag!!! I do sew, but I’ve currently put all my sewing projects on hold, waiting for a new machine (my old one bit the dust during the recent move).

    I’m an artist of a lot of different mediums, and I do carry lots of things with me at all times~

    First of all, I always have a knitting or crochet project in my purse. Nothing crazy, something portable, something I can pick up and go, or stop at a moment’s notice and just get back into it without having to go nuts.

    I always have a pair of scissors and a tape measure– my favorite is the one that I have, shaped like a pig– so cute! I also always have a camera, to take photographs that are inspiring, and I almost always carry a sketchpad and pencil.

    Beyond this, what I carry depends on my project du jour. If I know I’ll be making jewelry, I’ll carry around some wire and various pliers, and a few beads in a small tin. If I’m sewing, I have needles and thread and pins. If I know I’ll be putting together a scrapbook soon, my purse is usually full of momentos that I will use to put one together– things like napkins and confetti from parties, maps and postcards from vacations.

    You get the idea. Anyway, it’s awfully late for me– I’m looking forward to seeing more of your posts, going forward. Have a great evening and I’ll talk with you soon! <3

    Gorgeous sewing bag and looking through your posts you’re making me want to try sewing all over again (I leapt in two feet first last year, tried to make two dresses, they weren’t perfect, I gave up! I know, I know…!) Now I don’t have my sewing machine, but I keep thinking back to how much I loved having one – think it might be going on the birthday wishlist for this year!

    Love your bag! My essentials are scissors and pincushion and tape measure. Then I grab thread depending on color, cutting board, etc. as needed. Also love the magnetic pin cushion idea!
