Catching Up on My Magazines

M = Magazines

I love blogging and digital media, but as a former newspaper and magazine editor, I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for print. I subscribe to five of the many great glossies out there:

1. House Beautiful and 2. Elle Decor

These two feed my love of decorating. I got the subscriptions at the same time, when Hearst had an AMAZING deal going on — $5 for annual subscriptions! How could a print-loving girl resist that? The rooms in these mags are much more high-end than I can even dream of for myself, but they have gorgeous pictures, not to mention design news updates and Elle Decor’s “Trend Alerts.” Plus, I can look to the interior design photos for sewing project ideas.

3. Elle

I also got this one during the Hearst deal as something fun to flip through for fashion, makeup and lifestyle news.

4. HGTV Magazine

I heavily hinted I would love this as a Christmas gift, and my hubby delivered. Add in the sewing machine, and I got some great gifts from him last December! This mag is one of my faves because it’s geared toward DIY home improvement projects. Yep, it’s right up my alley.

5. Food Network Magazine

Admittedly, this is a subscription I got for hubby because we both enjoy cooking and watching the Food Network together, so this is one we both look at. The week-night cooking section is full of delicious recipes to try. Yum!

This weekend I’m hoping to catch up on the stack of back issues that’s growing on my coffee table.

Cheers! Which magazines are your favorites?

    Hey Kelly, I spend alot of time online and I consider it a treat to be able to curl up on the couch with a good magazine. I own more beading magazines than I can count, and I also like Vogue and Elle, too. That Food Network magazine sounds really interesting, and I’m gonna have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.

    I like InStyle too, they do an Aus/NZ version. I used to spend soooo much money on fashion magazines, now I spend it all on my sewing magazines, same same ;) hehe, my favourites are Manequim and Patrones and I have started buying the odd Burda again, but only issue by issue depending on how many patterns I like that month :)

    Also I buy way too many recipe magazines!
